Author: Rob Griffin, published by: The Crowood Press in 2001, 192 pages. This is definitely the best and the most comprehensive book on Chieftain currently available. Rob Griffin spent many year serving on Chieftain. Lots of facts and interesting anecdotes. All a bit chaotic to me but nevertheless a very interesting read. The book is printed in black and white and while some pictures and diagrams are good, it really lacks good quality, colour photographs. Overall a must have for a Chieftain enthusiast.

Author: Simon Dunstan, published by: Osprey Publishing in 2003, 48 pages. A typical New Vanguard series book. History of development and background information followed by description of all marks of Chieftain. Very useful. Some black and white photographs plus a few colour plates showing different vehicle marks and painting schemes. A nice little book. Recommended.

Published by MOD in 1973, 278 pages. Not exactly Haynes manual but close. A must have if you want to own Chieftain. It can provide some good reference to a modeller. Some good diagrams plus it names all the bits and pieces that no-one knows what they are. It is only a re-print but the quality is quite good.

Author: Andreas Kirchhoff, published by Tankograd Publishing in 2005, 64 pages. A great source of good quality pictures of the Berlin Brigade vehicles. Chieftains, Chieftains ARVs, 432s, even Ferrets, all pictured in their unique urban camouflage. Bilingual text (German/English).

Author: George Forty, published by Ian Allan Ltd. 1979, 128 pages. Although published a long time ago, this book is a great source of information and photographs about older marks of Chieftain. It covers similar subjects to Rob Griffin's "Chieftain": development of Chieftain MBT, layout, crew roles, armament, communication. This book is quite a rare find and this particular example was kindly shared with me by Richard Dunne. Many thanks.
